Max and I love our summer home in Porto Cervo.  We had bought it in 2008 right after it was fully renovated. Since Max's family is from Sardegna his love for the sun and anything water related is bone deep.  I'm from NYC so I'm a city rat where the closest thing to a decent beach is at the Hamptons... but that has NOTHING to do with Sardegna's crystal clear blue-green seas and powder beaches as well as the beautiful balmy summer weather.

About us (and our apartment...)

We love this apartment for many, many reasons.  It has an amazing view due to the wall to wall windows that faces the sea. Its spacious yet compact due to the vaulted ceilings, the terrace is big enough to be spacious for entertaining or taking in the sun privately or just lounging but not too big that you have to run kilometers to get a glass of water (or wine!).

The apartment has its own heating and air conditioning system so you can control it with a flick of a switch.  All the rooms in the house have a window which is great for ventilation and a view.

There are many points of lighting in the house so you can regulate it for low lighting or really bright or just spot lighting.

We have a 22" LCD LG TV with a DVD player and some movies.  There is also a BOSE sound system for playing music with your iphone or ipod. But we have a ipod with some songs already downloaded into it available (pls don't lose it so our next guests can have the same enjoyment as your stay).

Another reason why we love this apartment is location, location, location. Its 5 minutes from Porto Cervo Marina, Porto Cervo Center, Pevero Golf Club, across the street from Hotel le Palme (pictured below)  a world class 5 star hotel that has a full service spa and restaurant as well as a bar and they sell tabaccherie and newspapers.

Basically if we could, we would live there everyday. Unfortunately we both have to work and we have a toddler and another on the way.  We thought that it was such a shame that the house couldn't be enjoyed by us, but we thought: "Hey! Why don't we rent it!"  So this is the fourth year that we are renting the house.

The apartment is situated in this beautiful quiet residence called Gli Oleandri. The entire complex was fully renovated in 2008, with a brand new teak swimming pool that faces our terrace.  The 90 square meter (900 square feet) apartment itself is very versatile, all the sliding door windows open to the wide 20 square meter terrace that faces the waters. The 70 meters square (700 square feet) apartment  is evenly distributed in an open space kitchen/entryway that leads to a living room and off that a bathroom with the master bedroom on one side and the junior bedroom on the other.

The kitchen is the best part, it has all the appliances and a huge counter top in a 4 meters square space so you can gather and do dishes, put it in the dishwasher and clean the stove without budging an inch. No running back and forth saving you precious time to enjoy the beaches and outdoors.  There is also a convertible dining table for 4 or 6 people to dine.

The master bedroom has the same amazing view as the living room and there is also a junior bedroom that is perfect for guests or a child or two. The bathroom is all in Phillip Stark with a beautiful dark mother of pearl mosaic tiling and gres porcelain flooring.

We wanted a modern clean simple  feel to the apartment but at the same time romantic,  we were afterall at the seaside :) So in the living area, we opted for linear lacquered all white cabinetry with an all white couch (which by the way is super comfy and really wide, I fell asleep more than once after a long day at the beach).  In both bedrooms, we have a high headboard beds with romantic french vintage armoires and dresser drawers.  The kitchen is in all wood and the appliances are all Miele. There is a washer, dishwasher, refrigerator/ freezer, electric stove and an oven all in 4 meters square!  Oh almost forgot to mention the iron and ironing board :)

We have left some snorkeling gear for your pleasure please remember to bring them home with you as well as a lightweight cooler to bring some beverages to the beach.  We hope you feel at home in our home!
